Disabled Humor
Disabled Humor is a style of humor drawn from elements of disability culture, oftentimes including elements of ironic self-deprecation intended to challenge nondisabled expectations, or to communicate experiences that are shared by many within the disabled community. Crucially, disabled people retain agency within the joke—they are never the punchline. There is an “insider” perspective on disability that is communicated, which also means that a disabled audience is presumed.
